Course Type: Professional Elective Course
Applicable Major: Industrial Design and Product Design
Course Introduction
This course aims to help students understand the role of design in shaping the future through speculative and critical theoretical analysis, and to cultivate them into designers capable of addressing future challenges. The course focuses on the analysis of future design trends, with a theoretical teaching approach that emphasizes technology, politics, and socio-cultural aspects, combined with case studies and practical design creation. The goal of this course is to develop critical thinking skills in industrial design students, enabling them to quickly identify issues. The course encourages students to conduct in-depth research on potential future technological trends and social issues, and to train their critical thinking skills, transforming abstract and theoretical considerations into concrete design expression languages. This is achieved through speculative design, critical design, and discursive design methods.
