Course Introduction
Rural Aesthetics Innovation is a specialized course tailored for third-year undergraduates in Digital Cultural Innovation, aligning with national rural revitalization strategies. Centered on an integrated framework of "Ecological Aesthetics, Technological Aesthetics, and Lifestyle Aesthetics," the course redefines rural aesthetic education in the digital era. It positions artistic design as a driving force, merging digital technologies with localized cultural studies to address three core themes: regeneration of agrarian landscapes, transformation of indigenous wisdom, and empowerment of rural subjectivity. Students cultivate the ability to revitalize rural aesthetics through artistic practices. Structured across three dimensional modules: (1).Ecological Dimension: Utilizes digital imaging and motion graphics to transform terraced field textures, native flora, and biodiversity into visual archives, reinterpreting natural elements through artistic expression.(2).Technological Dimension: Emphasizes inclusive adaptation of agrarian technologies, guiding students to develop AR-enhanced revitalization of traditional farming tools, data visualization of agricultural processes, and prototypes for tech-driven rural services, fostering ethically conscious design thinking.(3).Lifestyle Dimension: Applies 3D scanning and virtual scene construction to preserve folk heritage, creating digital IPs such as dialect-inspired emojis and solar-term-themed illustrations to amplify cultural transmission. Adopting a blended pedagogy of artistic empowerment and digital transformation, the course integrates case studies, fieldwork investigations, and virtual simulations. Students acquire four core competencies: digital translation of rural aesthetic elements, creative development and strategic communication of cultural Ips, prototyping intelligent agricultural service systems, collaborative community-centered design practices. Through a dual-path approach combining physical installations and digital products, the course engages intangible cultural heritage inheritors and interdisciplinary experts as guest mentors. A tripartite evaluation system—incorporating villager feedback, expert reviews, and instructor assessments—ensures practical relevance. Outstanding outcomes are channeled into provincial rural revitalization competitions and county-level cultural exhibitions, establishing an innovative paradigm of artistic interventions in rural construction, and nurturing culturally grounded, digitally proficient innovators for the new era.
